US Half Triathlon Championships

Sunday, September 25, 2005

Do two halves make a whole??? That was the main question that we tried to answer as we ventured to Kansas City for the U.S. Half Triathlon Championships. We encountered an incredibly difficult course on a very hot day. When all was said and done, we had another 1/2 Ironman under our race belts!!! This was a much more difficult day than Vineman. A fun (but tiring) weekend was had by all.

Check out our results page to see how we did.

Lewis & Clark

Sunday, September 18, 2005

Let's not forget that we are in the middle of the training program for the New York City Marathon in November. The plan called for a 16 mile run today. We went out to St. Charles for the Lewis & Clark 1/2 Marathon (13.1) and added an extra 3 miles before the start of the race. We ran 9 minute miles (actually 9.01) to finish in 1:58:09. Slower than last year (I don't know why) but a fun time! Here is how we looked out there...

And they're Off!!! - We were a little late for the start but we caught up.

Chugging right along. Gotta love the flat course at Lewis & Clark.

Finished in 1:58:09 - pay no attention to the actual "gun" time.

The Boys and Margy sport some new hardware. Hope Suzy doesn't through this medal out.

Trail Of Tears

Saturday, September 17, 2005

I wasn't there (hey, I can only do so much!) but our group brought home the hardware at this year's Trail Of Tears Triathlon in Cape Girardeau. Congrats to team Cragg, Tom & Bernice Irwin, Jim & Carol Wright, Lynn Bouvatte and Julie Pepper for placing in their respective age divisions. A special congrats goes out to the lovely Beth Moeller. While she did not win her age division, it was determined that she was the best golfer (next to Bill, Nancy & Vic) that we know.
Nice effort by everyone!!!

MS150

Monday, September 12, 2005

Congrats to all of those that participated in the MS150 this past weekend. I withdrew so that I could race Kansas City in a couple of weeks and am sure that I missed out on a good time. Next year I am in.

Lake Saint Louis

Saturday, September 03, 2005

The Lake St. Louis Triathlon was the third leg of the 2005 Olympic Distance Triple Crown that included Memphis In May and The Chicago Triathlon. Since this is where it all began a couple of years ago, this race will always have a special place in all of our hearts.

Ultramax took over the event this year and increased the distances to a .93 mile swim, a 24.9 and a 6.2 mile run. I was working off of one weeks rest after Chicago. The field was loaded with friends and rivals. Weather was very warm. They told us that the wate temp was 85 so I did not wear a wetsuit. It felt like 75 degrees - I should have put it on.

Strugled on the swim a little bit. Hammered hard on the bike and had an okay run. Here are my results of the day:

Swim: 34:34
Bike: 1:32:51 (includes T1)
Avg: 16.0
Run: 49:02
Avg: 7:55
Total Time: 2:56:27
