The race conditions were absolutely awful for the 2.4 mile swim, the 112 mile bike and the 26.2 mile run today in Madison. Rainy and cold for 14 straight hours. It was truly something to see. A long day for all involved, both spectators as well as participants. All three St. Louis competitors did great! Seeing the Ironman live was something that I will always remember. An unbelievable experience with conditions that were atrocious. I would like to think that I could have gotten through the race but I have some serious doubts. Man vs. the elements - the edge went to the elements today.
