The Boulder Peak Triathlon, held this past weekend, was an incredible event. This Olympic Distance Triathlon should be part of everyone's 2009 race schedule. Make plans now because this race fills quickly. I can definitely see this as the comeback race that re-introduces Team Denlow (Lynn + Beth) to the TRI World! This could also be the first of many triathlons for Vic Richey as he is he is just a couple of swimming lessons away from taking the plunge into TRIATHLON. Hot air balloons, mountain views and a swim in the 76 degree Boulder Reservoir make this a race that you do not want to miss.

TRI BULL SPONSOR

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

TEAM STL has been approached by Rudy Project as a potential sponsor. Apparently, they were so impressed with the Tri Bull jerseys and accompanying pants that they would like to get their logo on our jerseys next year. In exchange they will provide members of TEAM STL with 35-50% discounts on glasses and helmets. Are the cow pants looking better to you now??? Stay tuned for more details.

New Ironman Tradition

Monday, July 21, 2008

There is a new tradition in the Ironman World - the tradition whereby these races are selling out to on-site entrants with zero online general entry slots available. Therefore, if you want to do an Ironman race you need to go and sign up in person one year in advance. First Ironman Canada and now Lake Placid. Unbelieveable!!! There will be community slots available but don't expect these to stay around even at the hefty $1,300 price tag. Ironman Louisville is looking better each and every day - and/or figure out how Dr. Noda is somehow sneaking into events like Ironman Florida with ease. Tell us your secret Seiichi because we all want to know! Click here for the recap of the wet, wet day at Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid 2008.

The Muncie Champion

Saturday, July 19, 2008

Tommy Rosenthal (seen above in full Tri Bull garb) had the race of his life at the Muncie Half Ironman last weekend. Even though the bike leg was shortened substantially, he still put up an impressive overall time of 5:11:44 which was awesome. Just proves that when you focus solely on poker and triathlon ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

The Boulder Peak

Friday, July 18, 2008

The second leg of The Boulder Triathlon Series (comprised of the 5430 Sprint Triathlon, the Boulder Peak Triathlon, and the 5430 Long Course Triathlon) gets underway this Sunday. I will be out there rooting on all of the professional and top age group finishers in the Series including one BLAIR FRASER who is making her 2008 triathlon debut. Water temps in the Boulder Reservoir should be between 68° & 72° making this a wetsuit legal event. Blair has opted for the Bill Cragg training method which should provide for an interesting day. Check back Monday AM for TEAM FRASER results.

Stringer setting a good example by wearing the team uniform

Team STL relaxes after the race

The times posted in Muncie were so fast that everyone is wondering if this was a half ironman and/or a sprint.

Tommy 5:11:44
Stern 5:12:20
Pepper 5:14:36
Seiichi 5:47:53
Irwin 6:15:34
Nancy 6:23:15

Bill there for special support.

Denver Marathon

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

While most of you will be heading with TEAM DENLOW & COMPANY to San Antonio for the marathon in November (I think there is a marathon unless everyone is just going to visit the Alamo), Nancy Lieberman and I will be scouting the Denver Marathon (really just the 1/2 Marathon) on October 19th. The hope is that this will be in serious consideration next year as the Fall Marathon of choice for the Running Group. So, while you all will be enjoying Mexican food and blue martini's (nice pre-race meal by the way), Nancy and I will be doing our best to adjust to running in the altitude. With any luck we will have early snowfall in the mountains and will be able to do a few runs as a cool down after running 13.1.
