Hoosier Pass

Sunday, June 27, 2010

A nice climb up Hoosier pass with Rick Weinstein and his crew from STL. These guys are great riders. Ventured five miles down the back side of the pass to Alma before turning around and heading back up hill. A gorgeous day to ride up in Breckenridge.

Mt. Evans

Friday, June 25, 2010

View from the top of Mt. Evans was spectacular. This was truly an epic ride that took me up above 14,000 feet. By far the most impressive and unbelievably difficult ride I have ever done. Check the bike on this incredible bike ride up the highest paved road in the United States.

Squaw Pass Again

Sunday, June 20, 2010

I donned the TEAM STL bike shorts and took another ride up Squaw Pass. This time I had Jason Sodden with me which really helped. We did the 44 mile loop from Bergen Park to Idaho Springs back to Bergen Park. Beautiful day to ride. Stopped at Echo Lake and took a look up Mt. Evans (14,000 elevation). Thinking about riding up there next weekend. Stay tuned.

Rocking The Elephant

Sunday, June 06, 2010

I can honestly say that I rocked the Elephant Rock Ride today. 100 Mile Ride - DONE!!! This was a great warm up for the TBP. While there were not extended climbs like you will find in the triple, there was nothing particularly flat. This was a 100 mile course filled with rollers. 6am start for me culminated in crossing the finish line right at 130pm. 7,000 riders rocked Castle Rock on this gorgeous Sunday in Colorado. Temps reached 90 degrees making it a hot one out there. I counted no less than 600 Triple Bypass jerseys from year's past but the award definitely goes out to the 59 year old guy who sported IM AZ bike shorts and an Escape from Alcatraz biking shirt. One other cute chic matched me with her Calistoga Bike Shop jersey!! By the way, as my mind was playing tricks on my around mile 80 I determined that there is nothing sexier in all of biking than a woman who carries her own pump in the back of her biking jersey. Think about for a minute and I think you will agree that is HOT!!!

Kansas 70.3

Saturday, June 05, 2010

Good luck to TPR and Noda who are looking to set PRs at Ironman 70.3 Kansas tomorrow. They along with 2,000 others will join the professional field consisting of some of triathlon's top contenders. I am looking for Tommy to pass Chrissie Wellington on the bike while Noda should be right on Chris Lieto's tail throughout. I am going on record predicting that Andy Potts will finish before either Rosenthal or Noda get off the bike. The course will take participants throuout Lawrence and surrounding areas. Athletes will complete a 1.2-mile swim in Clinton Lake, a 56-mile bike throughout Douglas County and a 13.1-mile run on roads and trails within Clinton State Park.

Mike Pepper is a late scratch for this event as he decided to participate in the first annual Wellington Way Man event being held in his very own neighborhood.

REI Ride

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

A quick little 30 mile ride this morning from KDVR/KWGN down south. Rode past the flagship REI store on my way back to the office.

39 Days To Go

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

39 days away from the Triple Bypass. I wasn't overly thrilled to get this email today from the ride organizers...

Dear Triple Riders,

The 22nd Annual Triple Bypass is right around the corner and we are praying for sunny skies and tailwinds. But, as we all know, this is Colorado and the chances of seeing a rain-free day (especially at 11,000 feet) are slim. That said - don't forget your rain gear on ride day! You can count on encountering rain at some point during the day, so appropriate rain gear is mandatory.
