Boulder Running Company Run

Saturday, July 31, 2010

I met Deborah Takahara at 630am today up at the Boulder Running Company's Tech Center location. They have an organized run each Saturday. Today's course was an out and back through the Cherry Creek State Park - a challenging but fun course. DT is training for the St. George Marathon and is trying to qualify for Boston. Her pace today was 9 minute miles. She ran 16 - I ran 10. It was a different game running and chatting with her - definitely pushed harder.

Double Dip

Swam 1700 up at Greenwood and then jumped out of the pool for a quick 25 minute run.

Here We Go

Monday, July 26, 2010

6 mile run from Hughes Court to Lucent. Way too paranoid for the half mile each way that was on the trail - every single twig out there looks like a snake to me. Talked to Deborah T today about hooking up with her for a couple of long runs. Looking forward to getting in decent enough running shape that I can keep up with her.

Breckenridge

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Ran from Coyne Valley road to Swan Mountain road (3.7 miles each way) for a 7.4 mile run up in Breckenridge this morning. Spent the majority of the day calling, emailing and texting friends and family from TEAM STL to stay current on the happenings in Lake Placid. Very inspired by TPR, MP and SN. These guys are amazing. For the first time since 2007 I actually wish I was out there with them! The training team is starting to build.

Jumping Back In

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Since Ironman Wisconsin I have been back in the pool maybe three times. This morning, make it four times. A 45 minute swim starting at 7am gave me all the proof that I needed that I have completely lost all of my swimming ability. Throw in the fact that swimming in the Denver altitude doesn't make it any easier. Oh well. You have to start somewhere.

The Official Start

Friday, July 23, 2010

Time to get back into TRIATHLON shape. Plenty of bike training thanks to the Triple Bypass but as Mike Pepper reminded me, it is about training almost everyday. So here we go. Set out to do the six mile trail run that starts from my front door. The only problem is that about 1.6 miles in I saw a snake on the trail. That was enough to not only freak me out but turn me around. I don't do snakes!!! Yes, this was most likely a harmless baby garter snake but a snake is a snake. Official training aborted. We will start over tomorrow!!!

Let's Get It Done

Monday, July 05, 2010

The training is now complete. The trek up Vail Pass today was the final ride before the big ride. Now all that stands between me and this jersey is 120 miles and 3 mountain passes (really 4 if you count Swan Mountain). Keeping my fingers crossed for a good weather day. Planning on enjoying the 5 day taper before jumping onto Squaw Pass this coming Saturday for the real deal. Here is to a great ride. See you in Avon on Saturday!!
