Dear everyone:
Dinner - my home at 5 Wydown Terrace
When - Thursday, August 18, at 6:30pm
Kids (and spouses) are more than welcome (and expected)
Purpose - Fulfill a bet whereby the winning team along with those
who have helped gets served a dinner by the non-winning team.

I have often told a story about my first marathon at Grandma's when, upon returning home, my daughter, then 8 years old, asked me how I did. I told her, "Well, I didn't come in first." The next day at school, she got up and proudly announced to the whole class that "My dad ran a marathon and came in 2nd!" (This is a true story.)

Well, Lynn, Beth and I did not come in first at the Vineman. We
take our hats off to Mike, John and Tommy, who did a fantastic job and gave us a sound thrashing. Beth is asking for a rematch, Lynn wants to move on to a gentler way of exercising, like biking through Europe, while I have shown signs of delusion with talks of an ironman. Meanwhile, Commissioner Vic is tallying the results of the race and will be giving awards at the dinner (e.g. longest transition time, slowest bike, slowest run, slowest swim - of which I am favored to sweep). The contest between the two teams require that the losing team make dinner for the winning team and those who have inspired or helped us along the way. So, the invite is here and we wish for you to come. Since this dinner is on a week night (two Thursdays from now), we anticipate kids, especially the little ones, to be brought along and we
hope to have plenty of Strawberry-Bannana Gu for them.

Please let me know if you are coming (so Lynn and Beth can make enough White Castle stir fry and, yes, I have an espresso machine that puts Starbucks to shame in making lattes.)

Talk to you soon,

Bob
